Microsoft did not create DOS. They bought it. When they did that, they had one product – a meager BASIC compiler.
They stole the idea for Windows from Apple.
They’ve bought around 217 companies, among them:
- Fox Software (FoxPro DB)
- Visio
- Skype
- Nokia (mobile division)
Some incorporated into products, most ruined either by incompetence or spite. You know, buy it and kill it so they use your product instead. I won’t get into their predatory licensing practices with PC makers either.
I’ve watched my company gobble and ruin a half dozen companies and their products, including mine, in the scant six years I’ve been here. It’s what they do.
At least Musk as cultivated and grew his acquisitions.
