Now, matters are worse.

What a wipeout. Everyone lost here from railroad commissioner through comptroller to governor. All the power seats gone.

Even that weirdo Talarico won. Hoof! I guess most Texans weren’t buying what Paxton was selling. Well, at least he’s only one of 100. The way I look at it, with Graham dead and Crockett redistricted out, Congress was missing a closeted (cough-cough) “perpetual bachelor” and a village idiot. Everyone gets a twofer with this one. Everything is bigger in Texas, even our effeminate imbeciles. Hope the blue crowd is proud, because not one thing that he said he’ll do will be done. None are part of a senator’s job. Wonder what the over/under sellout date is? Nothing stops these hardcore true believers from grifting themselves rich once in office.

Hinajosa will do not much as Governor. Certainly not about ICE. The still deep red Texas legislature codified cooperation with ICE into law. She’ll try it. She’ll lose. From what I understand from the Girl, the folks in the Rio Grande valley hate her guts. Great. Now she’s our problem. That said, the legislature doesn’t meet next year. It only meets every other year, and they must balance the budget. So we have that going for us, which is nice.

The Lt governor is a pretty powerful. Was Dan Patrick, now Vicki Goodwin. And we now have a democrat as railroad commissioner. Why is this a problem? that position controls the oil business as well. Great! Grand! Wonderful! No telling what them and the rest of the clowns in the car will do.

Republicans try to get elected telling you government doesn’t work. Democrats get elected and prove it. – PJ O’Rourke

Lotsa lessons here. First, republicans get elected and a nanosecond later forget their promises. They virtually do nothing that got them elected in the first place. They need to fix that. In this case I’d also say they need to stop putting foreign interests above their constituents. There is no reason whatsoever for Abbott to be shilling for Israel. Not his job. And I don’t think it’s ‘anti-semitic’ to question why we are spending blood and treasure for Israel. The Iran war was manifestly not in our interests. He didn’t help himself by joining that fight.

Personally, term limits are something Virginia does well. One term governor. That’s what we need here. Abbott has had four terms – sixteen years.

Second, the Democrats do exactly what they say they’ll do and more. That said, there’s not one thing they are going to do that’s going to make anyone’s life easier. If we’re lucky, the locals don’t do anything stupid. Hinajosa will do nothing about your property taxes. She can’t. Talarico can do zip for when it comes to Texas’ local problems. The others? They can do a lot of damage, and probably will. How long before they try and kill the golden goose, or go for an income tax?

Far as the US Senate and House? They’ll be deadlocked over bullshit. Not to say damage won’t be done. You can bet that they’ll want to re-plumb the works so that gravy starts flowing to their NGOs again. They’ll go back to looting, for sure. It’s going to be a weird two years. But, you can certainly see the pieces moving towards the peak crisis of a fourth turning.

I’ve heard more than one person say “Well, now that there in, let them get it over with. They’ll do what they do, everyone will get pissed off and throw them out. Sure. That works, sort of. But a lot of things can get screwed up in two years. Things that will be hard to fix. I first heard that line back when Clinton got elected. The brought us the contract with America and a bit less of a decade of a boom of sorts. I think tech made that happen more so than any politician, most of which decided to get out of the way. But Clinton’s election brought in the politics of personal destruction. Things got sour. Obama came in and made that ten times worse. Race relations went down the toilet. Us against them is what he brought. It got even worse with Biden. Here’s the deal, it’s a ratchet that keeps clicking up. Things never return.

Are they going to get their agenda done? Mostly not. But on the agenda is payback. That, they’ll pursue with gusto, wrong headed as it is.

Now that the election is done, orangeman can concentrate on Iran, Right? Oh goody!

Hope he doesn’t do something stupid. Something desperate that maybe can’t be fixed. The Iranians said it before – We can’t sell oil, no one does. They won’t hit us. They’ll wipe out more gulf infrastructure that’ll take years to fix. Tucker Carlson says nuking them is on the table. Simplicius doesn’t think we can pull that off. Makes sense. A B2 isn’t stealth if you know where it’s going. The other option is a ICBM. It’s an absolutely stupid thing to contemplate.

If we’re lucky, he does nothing in the next few months other than find a way to bail and still save some sort of face.

What a shitshow.
