A new project

This is what happens when I start digging around in the garage. I find a project I started years ago and decide to pick it up again.

The two knife kits were an impulse buy at Rockler years ago. I cut some blanks of rosewood (I think) as a rough fit. Then forgot about it and subsequently losing the hardware.

I dug in my Dremel stuff and found the cupboard bare for cutting and shaping bits. I could stick a router bit in my air grinder, but I think that would get out of control real fast. So it hit Home Depot to pick up the bits and ordered the handle hardware from Amazon. I got a rasp for the air grinder. It’ll keep me from losing a finger.

I’ve been looking for a decent fixed blade knife, but it seemed stupid to spent money on that when I have two perfectly good ones that’ll be easy enough to finish.

What I need is a stationary sander. Then again, I need another power tool like I need a hole in my head.

I have a chunk of rosewood – 3″x 48″ staring at me. I don’t remember why I bought it. It would make a couple really nice guitar fretboards. Or a really cool box of some sort.

I have guitar and bass bodies that have been sitting forever waiting for lacquer. My sprayers are in a shambles. The old one is useless. The new one I had taken apart for some reason (did I use it? or just test it?).

None of these projects is more than a day or two of work.

Now that the weather is cooling a bit, Maybe I can clear out projects that have been sitting for years.
