Burn the boats

Dewayne has been on a roll lately. After the old lady filed and left, he did his processing and is now posting mostly gold.

I can sum up this video with a saying my old Spanish teacher used all the time:

“Adelante, Siempre Adelante!. Forward children, Always forward!”

When you have some sort of ‘event’ in your life, process it, make a plan, move forward. Don’t circle back. He explains it better, but that’s the gist. I found this super helpful, like the quote from a Vox Day post that hit at the perfect time for me, back in the day, as well:

There is a saying: if you love someone, set them free. You can’t control her actions, much less her desires. You can’t control the legal system. You can’t control your feelings. You can’t control anything except your own actions. Vox Day – Word to the Fearful

I’ve been toying with the idea of contacting Herself and seeing if she’s finally ready to talk. My goal isn’t reconciliation. My goal would be to get some sort of detente so we could enjoy the holidays and other events with the kids and grandkids, instead of what’s happened the last almost four years. I’ve been over it for a long while. I’d simply like to be included without all the drama and planning.

This set me straight. It’s not my place to do this. I have a direction in life, I’ll stick with that. He so much as said this in response to a commenter asking if he was going to try to reconcile with the missus:

Dwayne, does that mean there’s absolutely no chance of reconciliation?

No, it doesn’t. But I’ll tell you what it does mean. It does mean that if they want to reconcile, they have to build their own dang boat and come find me.

I just got back from a really nice trip to Reynosa to see the Girl. Why put her and my friends on the back burner to circle back? Dewayne’s right. Burn the boats.

If you’re not going to… if you’re not going to move forward and you’re going to die on the beach, then burn your boats.

You have to bury yesterday. Yesterday is dead. It’s dead.

It’s funny how when idiocy starts fermenting in my head, something like this will come along and snap me out of it. Divine intervention?

(As an aside, after I got back it took awhile for the dogs to settle down. I was thinking these dumb thoughts as I was cleaning up after dinner and looked up to see Winston staring at me with his head cocked to the side. Looked like he was wondering what idiocy was circling in my head)
