Remember when plumbing fittings weren’t made of badly plated chinesium?

I”ve been in buildings and houses with original fittings 50+ years old. Nickel plated brass. Slightly worn, but still in good shape.
I bought a ’64 Cadillac hearse long ago. The bumpers polished up like new. When polished and waxed, the paint shined and looked ten feet deep.
I pass cars made in this decade with the paint flat out falling off. Chebbies seem the worst. But my ancient Ford polishes up nice.
Really sad. Craftsmanship is mostly dead.
