Getting Fit

I didn’t do a fitness post at the start of the month. Didn’t seem to have much to say.

I tipped the scales at 188. My weight has been in a 5 lb range for most of the year. That tells me my diet and exercise are on track. A little less eating out, more diet diligence, and I should drop a few more pounds. Eating out isn’t that big a deal to lessen. When checking quicken, I did a fast view about how much I spend eating out. It was an eye-popping number.

Figure one chik-fil-a salad a week, and maybe two restaurant trips, and maybe one Uber-One carry out and we’re talking some serious dough here. To be fair, when I order Uber, I get 2-3 meals from what I order. Still, it’s high calorie stuff I don’t need to be eating.

I have no real gains with the weights. I took a hiatus to complete a project. So when I went back, I had to lighten things up. I’m back where I was, and I add incremental weight at least once a week. But for now, I’m still working on form and full range of motion. Once I get limber enough for a full squat, I’ll start adding big time. For now, I work at anything better than 2/3. I also am working real slowly on my rotator cuff. I need my left shoulder to be equal to the right before going forward to fast. I stress it as much as prudent.

I’m over 60 FFS. I’m not in the big gainz club. I’m in the build back what I can and keep it club. In any case, I added incline situps yesterday. I don’t really need them, but I figure it helps. As is, I got a sixpack under that old man flubber from losing so much tonnage. All in all, I’m a fine specimen for a 61 year old geezer. At least the girl thinks so.

Far as running and biking go, it’s been glorious the last two weeks, what with mid eighties and zero humidity. California weather is back. Running has been a joy. So much so, it’s time to add mileage. I wasn’t the least bit sweaty or winded yesterday. Biking has been awesome. With the weather change, the prevailing winds changed as well. I most have winds to the east or southeast. So the tip up is not so bad, the one home is a joy. The bike is setup well and is riding awesome. I bought a repair kit in case I get screwed again with a tire pop.

Since it’s cooled, it’s time to get the kayak out to a lake. I have a go-pro. I’ll vidya it.

Since it’s been cool, I’ve been on the hotrod bike every day this week. Motorcycles are full body experiences (at least the sport and sport-touring). After a ride here or there, I feel it in my back and sides. Not pain. More like tightness. Like I’ve done some work and stretching.

It feels good.
