Random Thoughts

Had a great post thought up but the week got away from me. So it’s braindump time again, I reckon.

No real mischief from the dogs this week. Other than one of them appears to have figured out how to open up a food-service 5 gal bucket to snack on dog food. I was about to finger Winston, since he’s the troublemaker here. But Aria had the huge, I-et-too-much dump on our walk today. Mmmh…They may be in cahoots.

From PawPaws House:

Today’s lunch will be pork chops and rice, with purple hull peas and cornbread.  Some sort of banana pie for dessert. The kids will start showing up in a couple of hours, depending on whether or not they noticed the time change.  It’s going to be a good Sunday.

Of all the things with the kids getting older and the divorce, I miss this the most. That shit’s gone, most likely never to be back.

Poached from Didact. The money quote:

We are arrogant, and we are ignorant. And we lack respect for other people’s cultures and ways of life because we continue to insist that if you’re not like us, in other words if you don’t adopt what we think is appropriate for you, in terms of whatever (we think democracy, is that word that’s abused all the time) then you’re the enemy and you deserve the worst, which is ridiculous.

Col. Douglas McGregor.

This. Most of the folks we meddle with have cultures 10-20x older than ours. Many of them play the long game while our attention spans only allow us to operate short term on emotion and greed.

Did you size up the tranny shooter’s manifesto? I did. Reeks of envy was the impression I got. Why she had a hard-on that she couldn’t have physically for these kids is anyone’s guess.

We had a team group meeting this week. It’s a quarterly thing. It was a “Teams” call. And every time one of these happens, there’s that one person that thinks they need to run their camera. Usually presenters are the only ones on camera, and only then when they are speaking. I get distracted staring at their face as they stare blank faced, or gurn, at their screen. Lasted the whole call, me staring at a split screen with the presenter and a nobody. FFS don’t be that guy. And BTW, put your laptop on a stand. It prevents the focus of the camera from being your chin and turkey neck.

The dude that busted a few caps into some protesters in Panama was all over the place. I saw it first on Irish’s site. I like the “falling down” references. To be fair, he probably went down there to get away from that silliness. Usually, I’d say going to prison isn’t a great retirement plan. But it is a viable one. Except, this is Panama, so most likely not. I like the one in Germany where the woman was dragging them off the road by their hair. These idiots have to learn not to play in the streets.

Saw this on KnuckleDraggin:

I’ve seen this at least twice in the last 5 years or so. Usually a bluehair. Stabbed the gas, not the brakes I’ll bet. That’s gonna leave a mark.

Went to Sprouts today. A mistake. Second time I made it. I’m not cheesed about paying for bags, like some. At least they pack them full. It’s the crappy service. Always a younger black girl. Always mechanically polite. Always does something odd/antisocial. In this case, just leaving the bags where she filled them. I may be mistaken, but I think one is supposed to HAND THEM to the customer to let the customer know that they can now put them in their cart. Had to reach over to get them. As I said before, you absolutely cannot teach people-skills. You were either brought up with them or not. Then again, most cultures around the world understand that interaction – I bagged up yer shit, here it is.

And another interesting thing – she was the only one I saw in the store with a mask. A mask pulled down onto her chin. What’s the point of that?

Never mind.

Here’s the thing; people like me won’t say anything. We realize it’s futile and just won’t go back. I may give it one more shot to see if it’s still the same, or give a second chance, but them I’m gone forever. Only Walmart seems to understand this (from what I’ve read, not seen).

I returned to biking/running for real this week. Tuesday, first run, was rough. Today (Thursday) was much better. But I’m now a bit achy and waiting for Tylenol to kick in. So, no memes is what I’m trying to say. So I’ll leave you with a gratuitous dog pic.

That was when it was sunny. Today and tomorrow are rainy, and doofus here will sit out in it getting soaked. Been driving my batshit cleaning up after him.

Have a good weekend.
