Odds & Ends

Busy week this week.

We also had a bit of a thunderstorm. Which meant Aria was trying to crawl as deep under my desk as she could.

She gave up and settled for next to my chair.

The rain, while nice, isn’t going to save my gardens. I’ve pretty much started stripping them of the dead and dying. Still have some beets to deal with. I figure they are better off in the garden for the time being. I really don’t like them enough and now I’m sort of sick of them. I need to give them to our friends, but I think the couple that wanted them is out of town.

No news on the Shitshow. It’ll be the end of the month that papers are due to be swapped back and forth to start the process. I’m eager to get it over with.

A few weeks ago, I switched up my workout schedule. I used to work out 4 days a week – M/W walk/lift, then T/TH bike. I bike now M/W/F, and work out Tues/Thursday. Only instead of another walk before lifting, I started running. Right now, I go to the alley and run/walk up and down. It’s a little over 100 yards, so I get 500 yards in.

First day was tough. I was sucking wind. Second? not so bad. Legs were heavy from Tuesday, but not bad at all. I may as well take advantage of the lower empty weight and step things up. Below 230 is where I can run without beating my joints to death. So far, so good.

And what the hell, if I drop dead I’m free of the shitshow.

Doubt that will happen. I feel great for having started.

I got a new toy to play with. Behold:

My crappy fire TV in the sunroom has a remote that eats batteries. So, I picked up this charger and batteries, which are NiCad, as opposed to lithium. So it’s unlikely to burst into flames. I’ll review it in depth later. I just started using the first two batteries.

I’m done my albatross project at work. I managed to squeak a passable SQL statement that got me past the doldrums and got enough momentum to knock the rest out.

Got nothing on the plate this weekend, so it should be nice. By the end of the month, I need to scope out new digs.

  1. Duke was a rough and tumble Valley Bulldog. Stalwart and robust. A thunderstorm would reduce him to a quivering mass of jelly. He had his place in a dark closet… and even had his own CELL PHONE… (my old one) paired to a Bluetooth Speaker that would play “Relaxing Thunderstorm Music” for dogs.

OTOH… fireworks? PISSED HIM OFF IMMENSELY. 4th of July was quite literally when I would have to give him a little Trazadone otherwise there would be no peace in the house.

Maybe the music will be helpful for A
