About the dumbest thing I’ve seen

Found this on the thread about my company at thelayoff.com

Why in all the name of what’s holy would you surf sites like these, or any non business site on your company provided machine? Naughty sites? Really?

Back in the day when I was a network engineer, we had exception alerts running and pulled reports every week. If they were on a porno site, I’d see a huge red line on my display from them to the site. We caught one idiot posting and had to have a we-know-what-you’re-doing-cut-that-shit-out talk. 1 strike my friend. Next time, your boss gets this. And that was when all this was fairly new.

Now, there are all sorts of automated audit tools with not only the web, but email as well. They are used to enforce the NDA you signed. The company I worked for that was bought by the one I work for now had an NDA and an acceptable interweb use doc. I only gave the big company’s a cursory glance, since I don’t do that sort of thing. But I know of one or two that were tossed out a window for flapping their loose lips. It was immediate, no matter who you are, and they made sure the hit was messy so as to send a message to all of us.

In a company that’s laying off at the pace mine is, posting this from a company asset is a super stupid move.

We just had another of our number cut loose today. This one was like me. Decades of experience, she told the bosses that if we were going to loose another, take her so she could get the package and retire.

I almost told the boss to take me next. That’s all I’m waiting for to be honest.

Seen this movie before. I know how it ends. You can even see the maneuvering of the pieces on the board in the org chart.

That said, if you drift through the posts on this site, you can get a clear picture of what’s up. My coworker was in England. This matches exactly what some on this site said. We had a blood spill in July. They said the UK and EU would be next.

We’ll see.
