Getting Fit

Well, Lent started and I’m following my goals.

No caffeine was tough. Way harder than I thought it would be. Functionally, it was easy. I have water and juice on hand, and plenty of herbal teas. If I’m eating out I order water or club soda. No problemo.

That said, from Wednesday to Sunday I was dragging ass. I’ve quit before, but hadn’t had that sort of thing happen. Normally, I’d get a headache. This time, I was fatigued as hell. I wound up taking a three hour nap on Saturday. Once my wits started to return, I found I’m feeling better. My BP seems more stable, I don’t get that weird dizziness. I had a light spell when I first started, then it subsided. So that part seems to have worked.

I’m also thinking that the powdered creatine isn’t doing me any favors. Could be the lack of caffeine, but I noticed that workouts have been getting harder. I recover fast enough, but I don’t appear to be getting any physical benefits. It’s bothering my guts as well. I didn’t take any over the weekend and all the weirdness left. No biggie.

The first workout of the week wasn’t bad at all.

With that caffeine wipeout, getting up at 6AM has been a challenge. Still keeping up with it. I’m liking the extra time in the morning to get my wits.

The rest? well I’ve just started.

The KC Council I belong to started a fitness challenge. I was going to take a pass, since I don’t want the social media connections. But in the end I relented. The steps challenge is a slam dunk. A workout day, I do nearly 10K steps. A running day is nearly 14K, and that was a short run since I was dragging ass. I’m curious to see what it reads today, since I should do a legit 5K run.
