Another month is gone. Another weigh in. I’m on a downward trend, losing three pounds. I’m within five pounds of what I’d say is my ideal weight. It’s all diet. I’ve been more diligent about what I eat, being lighter on the starchy carbs.
Since Thanksgiving, my run is a little over 5K. It’s a breeze in cooler weather. I signed up for another 5K in April. Same crew, so likely there’ll only be two of us actually running. That’s fine. I’m there for me, not for competition.
I’ve been getting a lot of old man exercise videos in my feed. Like this one:
I do two of the five already – the farmer carry and a decline pushup. I may incorporate the others. But I also added other ones that are supposed to be good for geezers. I think it’s more doing the exercise more than what specific one it is. My preference is for those that build usable strength rather than muscle building for looks. I got a decent body under the wrinkly skin. I caught a look at myself before a shower last weekend that reminded me of Grandpa Simpson. Lot of wrinkled, loose skin. That won’t go away by itself.
Not that I care anyhow.
All these exercises amount to use it or lose it, far as I can tell.
I need to rock down the street and get a membership at a local gym. There are two on the outskirts to my neighborhood. One is built with trailers, the other in a warehouse. I’ll do the warehouse one. It looks more serious than the other. My company pays for gym membership, and I found how to expense it. So why not? It’s essentially free. And I need somewhere to go if/when it rains.
We’ll see how it works out.
