Range Report

Finally got to the range to try out the new pistole.

That’s my wingman taking aim. Those guts and headshots? They are my new bodyguard and my M&P shield .45, one handed. Man, that .380 barks. Shoots really well though.

I brought my Bodyguard 2 (.380), Shield (.45), Buck Mark (.22) and my Bulldog (.44). I also was trying out a blind for my left eye, which unfortunately for my right handed self, is my dominant eye.

It seemed to work OK. I’m not sure it’s an improvement on reflexively closing my left eye to shoot. I know if I don’t do that, I shoot off.

I was shooting Magtech 240 gr, .44 cowboy loads in the Bulldog. Soft lead and smoky. But here’s the deal, that revolver was more accurate and decent to shoot. More so than the Smiths.

It’s an astonishingly good gun. My friend thought so too. Light and powerful. When I got it from my brother-in-law he said it’s not a ‘plinking’ gun. It kicked a bit. It does, a bit. But not enough to bother me, to be honest. I put decent grips on it. Not why I bought it. I got it for a light carry gun that if it were confiscated by the fuzz, I could shrug off the $200 investment.

Those shots are 15 yards, two handed, single action. This thing has like a 2″ barrel. Big noise, big slug. I think it’ll return to my bedstand. Now that I’m reacquainted, seems like a better choice for a wakeup and start shooting scenario.

I’m not throwing shade on my S&W pair. They both are very, very good guns. The Browning Buck Mark is as smooth and accurate as they come. I think my air pistol has a bigger kick.

Followed it up with an early steak dinner.

It was a great afternoon and really raised me out of my funk. The range is only 15 minutes up the road. I have a membership, so there’s no reason not to hit it every other week, TBH.

That range is RangeUSA, BTW. Great prices, great deal. They only charged me $12 for an extra shooter in my lane. Nice, clean, well run, not expensive. I’m a fan. Well worth the $30 I spend a month.
