Fashion Woes

I have a plan to up my fashion game for the fall, which I’m mostly done. I donated all the old clothes that no longer fit, and started buying new ones. I bought two new sport coats, grey tweed, and blue. I thought I’d get my black one tailored to fit, but when I took a second look, it’s a three button sort of a fat dude coat.

You know, the ones we buy to make us look slimmer?

So, I’ve been on the prowl for a black two button one to replace it. I know what I have to do, but I’m dragging my feet. I need to hit Men’s Warehouse and spend the dough on a decent black sport coat that I can wear with either jeans or dress casual khakis or black wool pants.

I’ve been to a few stores around here, whilst out with the girl. Kohl’s was one of them. I forget the other, but it was the first time I’d been there. All of them had some iteration of this crap:

Herb Tarlek call your office. I have no interest in looking like a shabby sales guy. I showed them to the Girl, and she said “Mmmmh…negritos”

Exactly.

I’d see someone wearing a jacket like that first one and mutter, “Somewhere there’s an old VW missing it’s seat covers

There were only a few dark ones without some sort of crappy plaid going on. All the black ones were suit separates. Wrong material to match with what I want it for. I have suits, I don’t need that kind of mismatch.

I found a few on Amazon I liked, like black herringbone. But they were sized in L/XL. I don’t trust the sizing guides. I’ve found the fit varies widely doing that.

I’ll hit Men’s Warehouse or some other men’s outfitter and spend the dough I need to spend.

  1. Sports coats. Thrift stores have quite the selection, for pennies. Takes some.looking, but you will find something decent for little cash.
