My EDC knife is a Kersaw leek:

I actually have three of these on rotation. The black one you see here, a green one, and a silver one. Why? Because I lose them from time to time, I replace them, then they reappear. Usually under a couch or my truck seats. The current one that’s off the reservation is the silver one. It was gone for months, until I was cleaning out my Rav4 to trade it in. It was under the driver seat.
Now, it’s gone again.
I’m thinking it’s under a couch. Or in a pair of pants I haven’t worn in awhile. That’s happened too.
These are great knives. They snap open quickly, are stupidly sharp, and they keep that edge for a long time, as opposed to the Chinese made Kershaws (of which I have one).
But, every now and then, I figure I’d go more gentlemanly and pick up a normal folder, like this Buck:

That’s a 371. It’s a nice knife. My reasoning is when you are in mixed company, these are less intimidating.
But after a month or so of having to use it, I miss the ease of the leek, and go back to it. Think about it. You have to dig in your pocket, pull the thing out, and open it up. With the clip on, you grab it from where it’s clipped on your pocket, and snap it open. The whole move takes two seconds.
Then it hit me that if I needed a knife as a weapon, I’d be far better off with the leek.
Fast forward sometime, and what do I do?
I get one of these:

This one’s a 389. It’s as nice as the other.
In my old man fog and dementia, I went down that route again – maybe I need a pocket knife instead. Speaking of fog, I didn’t look at my knife box first and nearly bought a 371 identical to the one I already own. DOH! Luckily I picked this one.
I carried that one around a few weeks and found myself back to the leek.
Maybe I carry these when I’m dressed up, and/or packing one of the pistoles. They both are handsome knives. FWIW,I have two swiss army ‘officer’ knives which are great as well.
I’ve got silver Leek tight here on my desk, but I took the clip off as it rarely leaves the immediate area. Got another in my truck. Great knives. Nice smooth action on opening and feel nice and solid in my hand.

I’ve carried a Buck 703 for 45yrs but it’s getting harder to open it with my arthritis. I just got the 371, just because, but can’t open it either. Guess I’m gonna have to get an auto open Buck of some model.

The knife on my desk is a Buck 346. It opens very easy. But, it’s a bit chonky for a pocket.
