As I was cleaning up my computer, I found tons of images of guitars I’ve owned, and most I’ve built or fixed. I think it can be a thing here for many weeks, as I gear up to finish my next two.
First up is a Lap Steel I built.
I have no idea what got in my head to build one of these things. I think I liked the sound, and wanted to figure out how to play. So I went on the Ebay, and found one made by Carvin in horrible shape. I hit it with the belt sander, and worked it down to super smooth.
I reasoned that since I had tons of parts left, I could build it on the cheap. Behold:

I can’t remember where I got the pickup or where it came from. All I remember is it was spare, as were the Gotoh tuners. I had to buy a bridge setup and the decal for the ‘fretboard’. I believe it was setup in “G”.

This was my first experiment in black burst finishes. The read is the leftover laquer that I used on some end tables. The black I had to color myself. Then a few coats of clear.
Now, I have a buffer, so the finish would be shinier.
I got frustrated trying to play it and ended up cutting it loose on Ebay. I got more than my money back.
