Good Eatin’

Got a delivery from the Oil Mothership:

If you haven’t hit Texas Hill Country Olive Co. You should.

There’s a winery with them too, No idea what the wine is called. I went there for a tour and tasting. The shop is nestled in a field of olive trees. I had a great chat with the owner about how the Texas hill country climate and soils is similar to the Mediterranean countries.

Also tried the wine. It was a bit…uh…crunchy for me.

That said, the traditional balsamic vinegar is out of this world, as is the white lemon version. That one is awesome on chicken and fish.

Boil some red potatoes. Drizzle the rosemary infused oil on them, add some sea salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. It’s out of this world.

  1. Hmmm…. Olives grown in Texas. I would never have thunk it. Now I’m wondering if I could grow them here in Florida… or if others have.

That said, having visited an OO producing facility in Italy I am now intrigued and will be seeking out some of this product. Some things are worth the price and being in-country, Tariff free I would imagine.

Your influence, Sir… is like a double-edged sword and this posting should have been tagged with a DROOLING TOWEL advisory. 😉

Thanks for the information. Fortunately, I have finally sourced GOOD FARKING ITALIAN BREAD here in Ft. Myers. THAT… has only taken 12 year. Gonna have me a dipping party, I can see it now… Greasy Fingers… a shiny face and a BIG SMILE followed by a Carb Crash of the GRAN MAL variety.

    I can’t wait!

  2. Good olive oil is hard to find here, and expensive. I’m thinking of sending a crate of it from Australia. A lot of the stuff they sell in Asia is fake – not really virgin, or in extreme cases it’s mostly lard with green food dye.
Coconut oil is cheap though. They grow and process it near my house. Not quite the thing for Mediterranean salad though.
