  1. yeah. that a feeling I know all too well. I miss my old buddy Slim.

110 pounds of bone and muscle, a goofy roadie ridgeback. whatever else, he was a great dog.

we used to sit on the front porch steps together and watch the world go by.

silly damn dog loved playing in the snow too. he stay out until he was almost frozen and I had to drag his ass in.

he flop in front of the wood stove until he steamed and then want out again. he loved little kids.

and they loved him back. my neighbor’s grandkid still talks about her buddy Slim.

she did things to him that scared the shit out of me. all Slim ever did was to lick her face until she stopped doing whatever to him.

her Mom told me later on, that she never worried about her kid as long as Slim was out there with her. 2 years. he was a great watch dog, never messed with the cats, but he was death to any racoon that came too close to the house. if nothing else, he left his mark on this world. not bad for a pound hound.

      1. always keep you DOG. wives and girlfriends come and go. but your Dog will never leave you. old Jack saw me thru my divorce.

if she even says something like that, you should know better to keep your dog.

      2. Disturbingly sad to hear of that. My Eeeeevil X was Sober 18 years and went off the deep end. That precipitated one incredibly ugly divorce. The pinnacle of which was when I was at work one day she proceeded to take my pedigreed boxer to the bar AND SELL HIM FOR DRINKING MONEY. She told me he got out on her and ran away. I knew better as I was sober, had eyes everywhere, etc. Fortunately for me, the DOG was having NO part of it, caused SO much havoc for the new “owners” that they summarily returned him. Did not even want their MONEY back. At that point the dog so horrendously tormented HER it was rather comical.
