As I scrolled my emails this morning, I knew I’d see a post on substack by Simplicius about the weekend foray into bombing Iran. Sure enough, there was one, with more detailed analysis. His previous post, he laid out three different scenarios for bombing. One of which was we’d tell the Iranians, who would let us dump a few bombs, declare victory, and move on.
Damage assessment looks like that’s the case. He brought up a great point – F35s and F-18s had trouble tangling with the Houthies. Iran’s systems are better, and no anti-aircraft? No video? They knew where we’d be coming.
Some perfunctory counter strikes today?

the backers and companies making the tools of war get richer and the people who fight them get the pain of it all.

I have since told kids to find something, anything else to do besides join the military.
