Two weeks ago, I took a week staycation and took a break from working out to let my body heal. I was having aches and pains that come with overdoing things. Bad form caused me to screw up my back a bit making it sore.
It worked. I entered last week ready to go.
Day 1, just a bike ride and some weightlifting. I knew I would suffer, so I lowered the weight and went back to working on form. End of the day, I was achy and spent.
Day 2, Running day. Ran OK. Didn’t suffer. Took it easy. Hammered again. Had to take a nap before feeding the dogs. Whether it was the pollen or Sahara dust, my lungs and voice were hammered. Later that night I was out like a cheap lightbulb.
Day 3, bike and weight. Not as bad. Tired, but not hardly sore.
Day 4, Running. Ass kicking, again. Not as bad.
While my recover from working out went fast, I healed up pretty quick, I was surprised and dismayed how much I lost in a week. Getting back into the routine is taking time.
We’ll see how it goes this week.
Growing old is a process. BEING old is a condition that is only afforded to those that don’t grow in to it.
I have friends that were not afforded the privilege.
Therefore, I try to remain grateful.
Glad to hear you’re on the mend. Personally, I’m to the point where things no longer mend and require surgical intervention.

Correction… those that DO grow in to it. Sometimes with age comes… well… the point makes itself.
