U2 lead singer Bono was on Rogan the other day spouting nonsense.
It’s been all over the place, and what he was saying was bullshit, clear and simple.
I’m about halfway through the interview, but I’m finding it tedious. But I did hear the part where he claimed 300K have died because USAID was cut, which Rogan didn’t really buy, pointing out that out of the $42 billion the vast bulk of it was flat out grift. What was funny is he started down this path by smearing a ton of butter on Americans. We’re heroes. We’ll step in to help others. So he dug up the ghosts of two world wars and whatnot.
Us Americans want to help. This is why he was confused why we gutted USAID and were hurting the chulrins.
It’s all bullshit narrative. His grifting buddies heard it and told him. Food rotting in warehouses because the guy that ran it was fired? Sure. People dying of starvation and AIDS, dogs and cats sleeping together, whatever. Fact of the matter, this was cut only a few months ago. If they were all that close to the edge, I’m guessing the money was wasted.
But it never got there, did it? Because it was a grift.
His pals oxen were gored, so they are squealing and telling tales. Fact of the matter is, the part of USAID that was kept, because it seemed to be actual aid, was moved to the state department, where it probably belongs. Those numbers were ‘projections’ from the very same people that calculate damage from global warming and COVID death rates.
Does he want to hear from the heroes here? How about going to a town and asking people if they’d like to pledge a few thousand on their credit card for chulrins and AIDS patients in Africa. Be sure to record it. Because that is what we are doing. We are borrowing money and sending it to help people, not our own.
We have plenty of need right here, thank you.
I’m sick of these super rich hypocrites laying on guilt and complaining that someone turned Uncle Sugar’s money spigot off. Think it’s worthwhile? Get your rich buddies to pony up.
Here’s the deal. This shit is going to collapse. It has all through history. No civilization that’s been anywhere near the financial mess we’re in has survived. There’s only a few ways out for us – hyperinflate, or repudiate the debt. And given the amount of kvetching, we won’t make the actual budget cuts needed until it blows sky high, then no one will be getting much of anything.
I think about these things as I’m in the final approach to retiring, and watching the chances of being able to do that shrink. I hear Purina is one of the more palatable dog foods, if it comes to that.
By the way, they can vilify Musk all they want. But DOGE was only suggesting cuts. Trump has made some via executive order. But Congress will absolutely budget the grift spigot.
