And So It Begins

Every year about this time it happens.

After a week of high temps, then a week of nice weather, the furnace comes on. I wrote about this earlier.

There’s that one day when walking the dogs that you realize that hiking boots were a bad idea. So you switch out to running shoes.

Then there’s the day when you come back from the walk, and your shirt is soaked. That’s when you put on the light, wicking, exercise shirt.

Last Friday was the day that you realize that jeans were a bad idea.

It actually wasn’t hot in the morning. About 75 degrees or so. What changed was the intensity of the sun. I planned on heading out on the hot rod bike for lunch, but it was way too hot, and the heat pretty much wasted me on my run the day before.

It’s time for shorts.

It’s also time to change my routine. Normally, I get up, shower, and dress for the day. I’ll change my shoes and shirt to walk the pups, then change back. Now, I’ll throw on a T-Shirt and workout shorts and stay that way until after I work out in the afternoon.

The jeans will be packed away. When I go out, I’ll put on a polo and khakis, with the boat shoes. If it’s a ‘formal’ affair, I’ll put on my rompers. Doesn’t seem like it, but they aren’t as hot as my sketchers.

I saw a video on YouTube about what clothing turns women off on men over 40. I’ll be goofing on that this week. I agree on the turnoffs. I don’t agree on the ‘dress this way instead’ suggestions.

  1. Yeah… I’m with ya man. Here in SW FlawDUH it gets hot enough to make you MAD. And not just ANGRY mad either.

There’s a line in the old Monty Python sketch “Bruces” that comes to mind: “It’s hot enough to broil a monkey’s bum in here!”

98 on the street in N. Ft. Myers yesterday and you’re right… that sun will literally bake your brain in your skull if you just stand there.

Not sure if you caught Divemedic’s post the other day… it can be downright dangerous. We damn near lost him.

Do take care especially with Aria. She’s the color that roasts up real fast.
