Getting Fit

This month’s weigh in saw me running heavier. About 4 lbs. I’m still within a decent weight, but heavier than I’d like.

Looking at my tracker, my last peek like this was when I was into weights in Plano. In this case, I’m back where I was back then. I’m diligent about weightlifting. I have my form right, and have been adding weight.

I’m back to where my pants are loose, still, but the thighs are tight. Same with my shoulders when I wear some XL shirts, even though my shirt isn’t clinging elsewhere. I guess that’s a good look. I most certainly have added muscle mass to my shoulders and arms.

I still need to be mindful of my diet. I tend to snack more these days, eating fruit in-between meals. I need to peel back what I eat while out. Forever, each weekend the Girl and I would hit breakfast, and I’d get pretty much what I eat any given day. But for whatever reason, her (autistic adult) son is in a phase where you can’t get him moving. So we end up at lunch, where I tend to splurge.

I’ve skipped my Friday burger during lent, only to replace it with a similar meal each day on the weekends. Probably shouldn’t be doing that.

I’ve been taking magnesium at night, which has been working great. I wipe out. Maybe I get up once, but fall right back asleep until it’s time to get up. For whatever reason, I have the alarm at 6AM, and my eyes snap open every day at 5:58. Even though it’s only two minutes, it makes me feel shortchanged.

We’re in for a few days of rain here.

Yesterday, it was cloudy with fitful rain. Halfway through walking the dogs it picked up and soaked us. Then stopped. I was hoping I might get in a bike ride, but didn’t want to risk it. I wiped out hard on some leaves a year or two ago and landed on my bum shoulder. Since then, I take a pass when it’s wet. Usually if it’s there’s a rainy bike ride day, I just skip it and add one Friday. Friday is supposed to be no bueno, weather wise.

I decided to lift weights instead, but as I was finishing the sun was fitfully trying to make an appearance, and things appeared to be drying up. So I headed out. It was so worth it. Practically no one on the trail.

Today is supposed to rain, but it’s a running day. I’ll go out anyhow.
