Hate to Tell You…

Every so often I check in on NextDoor. And every time I do, it’s the same thing: Lost my dog, lost my cat. Found a dog, found a cat. They look like this:

or this:

Hate to tell these folks this, but…He dead.

Both these neighborhoods are surrounded by rural and parkland. There are hawks, bobcats, and coyotes. Lots of stuff to snatch up a small pet and turn it into lunch.

That would happen in Plano and Richardson all the time. Hell, I had a cat that got eaten in our front yard. These fools would walk their little yip-yip dog along a treeline near a creek, and whomp-whomp Wyle-e snatches him away, leash and everything.

Gotta be transplants.

So here’s the advice – Mind your pets. They are low on the food chain here.

  1. It’s a shame. These pets suffer a perverse form of “Darwinism by Proxy”. THEY suffer the consequences of the stupidity of their owners.

We have all SORTS of warnings, videos (some rather graphic of coyotes snatching pets from fenced in yards, etc.) of this published by our local Sheriff who does a great job.

You want to smack these people in the head FFS.

  2. I got banned from Nextdoor for telling the owners exactly the same thing. Lady let her 5lb miniature poodle out & never saw it again. It was a pair of Great Horned Owls feeding their owlets, I know because I found the leftovers under the nest along with cat, raccoon & opossum.

    1. I get yellow carded by them nearly every time I comment. God forbid someone inject a little logic into an otherwise emotional situation. I may light them up, try for a red card, then delete my account. It’s one of the only three social media accounts of mine.
