I did a thing

An empty space where a pile of clutter was:

In that corner, in a space 6×6 by about 4′ high was a pile of stuff I’ve carried to three houses. Most of which I got stuck with when I had to refugee move. Books, parts, furniture, junk. For instance, there were two dive setups from my departed brother in law. They probably were still OK, but old and I think not worth the money, for me at least, to get them looked at and tuned up. I kept the tanks. If I get back into diving I’ll rent or buy new.

There were tons of parts for fixing houses. For instance, I buy 3 pvc fittings each time I need one, just in case I screw up and have to redo or I may need in the future. But I can’t imagine me needing two toilet mounts when I’m renting. I have no intention of unbolting a toilet in a rental.

So I called 800-junk to come fetch it and make it go away. They sent a few tweekers out to collect it. I don’t think they had a full mouth of teeth between them. But they were nice enough, and made quick work of it.

Nice to have the space. Although I have tons of tools. When it warms up, I’ll look over the bins of chemicals. Mostly paints, gardening stuff, and whatnot.

Making progress simplifying my life.

BTW – The garage has two doors, instead of one big one. My truck won’t fit through either, and even if it did, I wouldn’t be able to shut the door.

  1. Good deal. After having to an complete clean out of a family members home after they had passed… and that in a weekend, I’ve been taking a hard look at what it is I have and how much work it would be for my Daughter to come dispose of a lot of just CRAP I have laying about.

It’s rather daunting. Perhaps parsing it in to “wee piles” like that is the move.

    Bravo!
