One of my favorite pastimes is sitting on my patio and thinking big thoughts. I like to spend quiet time out there watching the dogs and wild critters while I think or pray. Especially the birds.
So I got a bird feeder.

There are a couple small birds hanging on there, chowing down.
The change has been profound. The yard was a-twitter yesterday morning with all sorts of birds. Where I had one Cardinal pair, I now have two. All sorts of different birds have been showing up.
I caught a squirrel trying to get to it the other day, unsuccessfully. Thing is, he has to run the gauntlet of two big dogs to get there. Interestingly, I haven’t seen brer squirrel this week at all. Friday, there was a hawk cruising around. I’m guessing he became lunch for a raptor.
Ce la Vie.
It’s 15 this morning (-9C). Won’t be any sitting on the patio this morning.
That’s grand. Tuppence a bag? 😉 So feeding wee birds and raptors and amusing the doggos. Sounds like “WINNING” all around! I’m staring down low 40’s tonight. Downright cold for SW FL.
Maybe a Feedercam to see if there are any more tree-rat interlopers and what their fate may actually be. That could prove even more amusing!
I’ve not needed to put up a feeder. The plethora of avians in my yard ranges from Ibis to Egyptian Geese… Sand Hill Cranes, Wood Storks… and the most amazing pair of Bald Eagles…
And some crazy thing that sounds like Moaning Myrtle at night…. downright scary.
ENJOY!!!!!
