Meanwhile, she was worse than fiddling whilst her city burned. She was off on a junket to the motherland to hobnob with Africans. Useless barely describes her.

She didn’t even have the wherewithal to gup like a fish in surprise, or lie, bald-faced. Just stood there blinking like the half-wit she is.
There was a time when politicians understood that there were basics to the job that needed to be taken care of. Making sure the city services such as policing, fire fighting/rescue, trash pickup, water utilities, were all handled. You don’t need to provide bread and circuses. Just the basics most modern people enjoy.
They are too stupid, incompetent, and solipsistic to get that doing a good job at the basics would make you a rock star these days. Look at DeSantis in Florida, or even Abbott here in Texas.
I’ve met and worked with a lot of great people in LA. They don’t deserve this.

I keep my large yard mowed to prevent combustible materials from building up in my yard.
I also live on a knoll in a swamp that is frozen half the year so there are no sagebrush or mesquite or illegals or meth-heads with fires to set the world on fire every few years.
So there’s that… Live in a mostly fireproof non-desirable area and odds your house burns down is low.
