I don’t know where I’m going with the bass here:
I tried to do the black stain then sand thing I did on this guitar:
But it wasn’t the same kind of wood. So what I got is a stressed look. I think I’m going to use blue tinted laquer, and see where it goes. If it sucks, I’ll waddle down to O’Reilly and pick up some cool auto metallic paint and clearcoat.
The guitar is too pretty to color. I may add a bit of butterscotch color, but I want it a natural look. There’s a small flaw to the bottom left, which may add some character. I’m not going to work it out.
I’m at 400 grit. I’ll do 800, and then I’ll seal them. They are very smooth as is, but prep is king here. Better the surface, better the look.
