I tipped the scales at 192 this morning. Probably less, since I wasn’t buck nekkid on the scale.

So my weight has been stable – +/- 5lbs since January or so. I think it cracked 190 because I’ve easily added 5 lbs of muscle in my shoulders and thighs. When I returned from vacation in April, I hit the iron hard.
As an old phart, it takes a lot of dedication to exercise. Today, winds were from the south at 14 Mph, with gusts to 22. When I left to bike, it was 92 degrees. The ride back was absolutely punishing. Much of it slightly uphill with a stiff headwind, in the sun and heat.
I started the week by heading off to ride the bicycle and hearing a pfft-pfft-pfft-pfft from the front tire. Crap, sprung a leak. It distracted me, I looked at it, slowed down, my shoes stuck on the pedals, and down I went. Again. The clips are set at the lowest tension, but I don’t have my muscle memory set to release quickly when I’m not thinking about it. If the foot you want to put down to prevent tumbling is on the upstroke, there’s not enough resistance to spring the clip until the pedal hits the top of the arc. So, you go over slo-mo like Joe Biden.
BTW, it’s good to be in shape.
The Girl’s son tripped and broke his hip before I met her. He’s 27. Here I am, 61, dumped the bicycle at least four times in 12 months. Had the Kawasaki tip over on me. Had my legs collapse under me twice when I got up and walked to the bathroom when my BP meds were too aggressive for my weight. But didn’t have anything happen other than maybe a boo boo and some hurt pride.
All in all, I’ll take 192 all day since I haven’t been as diligent with my diet. I’ve eaten out a bit more last month than usual. I’ve started tracking my intake, and I think I don’t have much to fret about. As I write this, it’s getting to be dinner time. My calorie count so far has been 1060. I have the app set at 1500, which is probably wrong, since I’ve passed my target. That count includes two small dark chocolate bars I had this afternoon. With an hour beatdown of a bike ride, it shows I have 760 to left in my budget. I won’t make that. I’m not all that hungry now, and probably won’t be later. I’ll probably have soup when I return later.
Normally, I’d choke down something on the way to my men’s club meeting. But I’ll be on the hot-rod bike.
I’ll feed my soul before my gut.
