Getting Fit

I tipped the scales at 192 this month.

Not bad. -2 lbs from last month, not as light as a few months ago, but in the ballpark for the last four months or so. We’ll see.

I’ve been eating out more lately, most of it social. But I’ve also changed up my workouts. I’m at around 170 on deadlifts. None of the others have improved much. But I changed from the military press machine to free weights, which is punishing to my repaired rotator. I also ditched the dumbell tricep extensions and lat pulldowns for the assisted pull-up and dips machine. It simply counterweights so that you can do the set with the proper range of motion using a fraction of your weight.

It’s paid off. My ‘bat wings’ are disappearing and I’m getting good shape to my arms and shoulders. I’ve also been packing on muscle. So I’m not at all stressing about the higher GVW.

In other words, my pants are still loose, so I’m ok.

This month, I think it’s time to get more fastidious with my diet. I also find I’m not at all hungry many evenings. So it shouldn’t be that tough. Add in to that mix the searing heat of a North Texas July making me sweat like a champion running and biking, and I should drop at least five.
