Gratuitous Dog Pic

For the first few years, Aria didn’t like other females in the house. She’d be happy enough when they came, but when it appeared they were staying, she’d snap at them.

This is what happened when my x-niece came to stay with us. She was really bothered by it, being a dog person.

I showed her how to get Aria to warm up to her. And one day, out of the blue, Aria jumped up on the couch to sit near her new BFF.

That’s when I grabbed this shot.

In other shots I’ve posted about Aria, she doesn’t look as big as she is. She was 2/3 the size of Jethro, but he was a huge dog. She clocks in at 65 lbs. The woman in the picture is petite to average sized.

  1. The sizes and styles of doggos… My Dukester was a compact, SOLID mass of bone and muscle. He was not large, but he was MAD heavy and powerful. He was also so utterly sweet that it wasn’t an issue, however, ONCE… and only once, did I ever observe him in a RAGE.

FOUR of us… Three full grown adult human beings to hold him down and One veterinarian to draw the blood for testing.

I had him pinned to the floor w his muzzled mouth near my ear. Other tech had his forearms and a third to immobilize the “Target Zone” Never have I ever heard such a thing as the snarl/scream/howl he let fly in my ear.

And of course, Duke being Himself,, 5 seconds after it was done he was all buddy buddy with everyone.

Not one to hold a grudge, my Duke.

    A lesson I struggle with daily. 😉
