Getting Hot

The week started cool in the morning, with fog. I love walking the dogs in the fog with dew on the ground. They tend to spend more time sniffing when it’s damp out.

I have a number of different paths I take them. But all pass by the new park they put in on the east side of the neighborhood. It has cans to dump dogshit bags, and even a dog watering fountain. On the way, I’ve started taking them through the big open field just north of the park.

It has a few areas they left wild.

Lots of critters to flush out in those thickets. We have to inspect them all. The field is something else in the fog and dew. Lucky for me, I wear my timberlands walking them. Keeps the feets dry.

But the cool mornings are ending, if not gone.

Yesterday was one of those magic days in North Texas. Warm without being too hot. But that said, it’s also the first day when you are almost two miles into a walk that you get the realization that jeans and hiking boots were probably a bad choice. Had to change when we got back home.

It’s time for the sneakers and shorts.

I’ll be in shorts and t-shirts nearly 24×7 until October.

Funny thing though, I took the hot rod bike out to meet a friend for dinner Sunday, when it was still a bit hot. The new jacket works almost like AC. I couldn’t believe that it’s 80 degrees, I’m wearing a jacket with Kevlar pads, a helmet, and I am comfortable as hell.

I’m sure that’ll end when we get into triple digits.

It’s coming for sure.
