Winston Visits the Vet

I got a notice from the groomers that Winston’s shots were expiring.

Hmm. I seem to remember adopting him in the fall, and his vet dates matched the fall. I was figuring on bringing him with Aria, when she’s due in October.

Nope. His shots were in the end of April, when he was found. Whoops.

So Monday was the day to go see the good Doctor. Winston loves traveling in the truck. So as long as he can ride and hang out with me, he’s golden. He was great during his visit. Dude is so laid back, he dropped on his back for a belly rub in the exam room.

The Doctors and the staff are awesome. Dr. Krug is an older gentleman (I think 74?), has decades of experience in the business, and with large dogs. He spends plenty of time chatting and explaining. Dude knows the vet biz. He was telling me Mars (who makes food) was gobbling up vet practices left and right, and when you hit one of those 24 hr shops, it’s typically one of theirs.

Interesting.

So, Winston had an ear infection. The good Doctor asked, do I want the old medicine, where I have to headlock him twice a day for drops? Or the new stuff that coats and sticks that he gets once?

I’ll take the once, thank you.

He also had his Bordetella and Rabies vaccines which has him faint in the ass this week.

Matter of fact, both of them are enjoying being home and loafing around after a week of boarding.

So far, so good with the boy. He doesn’t dig at his ears any more, and he’s shaken his head a few times and ejected some of the goop. That’s why his head doesn’t look fuzzy above.

Smells industrial. Took me a minute to place the smell.

Coal Tar.

I had dandruff shampoo with that in it.

So back to the routine with us. I think my next PTO is June, at least.
