J.Kb had a great piece at gunfree zone the other day. It was about those that prep looking at the hole and forgetting the donut.
Doodfuses running around with $15,000 worth of NODs but don’t have a fucking Harbor Freight tow strap to unstuck themselves from a snow drift.

I’m astonished at the number of people I know that do not have basic tools or implements in their car or truck. Even my little RAV4, when I had it, had a decent toolkit as well as a first-aid kit behind the panels in the back. I also had a couple ratchet straps and a cargo net. All of which could be stowed away out of sight in that car.
In the new truck, I bought a Kobalt mechanics set for the same money it would cost to add SAE tools to the kit I had in the Toyota. I hate the playschool plastic case, but that I can swap out for a more manly tool bag.
I’m old enough to remember the internet forums and gun store Rambos who would swear up and down that if you only carried a 38 Spl snub nose and a speed strip for self-defense, you would die in the streets. To survive a gun fight, you needed a Glock 17 or 19, with a 19 or 21 round extended mag, and at least three reloads.

I remember this to. I’ve had more than one of these types sniff and put their nose up in the air over my .44 bulldog. But that big snub nose has its place. It’s a halitosis range weapon that I can happen to hit four-inch groups at 30 feet. Most of your encounters, as you can see on any YouTube video, are maybe 10 feet. It also helps that it’s light, easy to carry, and being a revolver, reliable as dirt.
The most realistic scenarios that you or I in the suburbs, living in single family hones, might have to deal with is a George Floyd type riot, a post Hurricane Katrina type looting, or a Great New York Blackout type riot and looting with the power out.

True.
That said, when EBT cards go empty (and they will) this may be another story. But I have faith that the vast majority of people around will be squared away. Especially in Texas.
We generally do not to tolerate things going to crap. I can see the State taking charge over the feds.
