Yesterday morning, I was getting my day started, reading, answering emails, that sort of thing. I glanced at the cameras and saw the two dogs playing, clearly with a case of the zoomies.
Cracked me up.
Walk time came, and neither were inside. Weird. They know it’s walk time. But then again they are probably playing or hanging out.
Nope.
Behold:

That there is a gate controller what got mugged by two dogs. The wire hanging under the motor, in the middle goes to the remote controller, which is way off camera to the right. The bar on the gold box on top is a piece of velcro where it once was attached.
So first thing after a walk, this had to be fixed or I’m going nowhere today.
Luckily it still had it’s control lights one. The connector for the remote was pulled off in the attack.
That I was pissed was an understatement. Aria beat feets to the corner of the yard. Winston followed me around, tail between his legs, begging forgiveness. I was baying for blood pissed. This bullshit is out of control.
So I got to fixing it.

Some wiring, some rough weather velcro later it was working again. Before I leave on Friday, I’ll sink some angle aluminum and fix the cover where they can’t lift it. They really are thick. Whatever they were chasing went under or between the gate and the fence.
I loaded it up with animal repellent and put the cover back. Until I mount the cover, they’ll get a snoot of unpleasantness.
I opened the door of the truck to test the gate, and have a place for my tools, and guess who discovered the new ride?

New ride?
Yup. Got a killer deal and awesome trade-in for the Rav4 from Larry at C3 Auto so I could hurt the environment.

It’s only got 80k on the clock, and a V10 that makes a wonderful growly sound. It has air assist rear suspension and a brake hookup to tow an RV or other big trailer.
Fact is I’m on the highways every weekend because reasons. One of which is to clear out of here in case someone is coming to view the house. My little Toyota could hold it’s own on Dallas highways. But only hold it’s own, and these people are crazy. I need some mass around me.
I put nothing down. The Rav paid 1/2 the cost (which was a steal) and Uncle Larry had Cousin Danny put the payment out until pretty much the new year, hopefully after the house sells.
Now I have one of his laptops that needs a new hard drive to attend to.
Oh boy…. It’s almost like baby proofing a house for you. But then… I can see how it got started if they chased something in to that piece of machinery. Dogs will be… Dogs and sometimes enthusiasm becomes unbridled.
Damn good thing he’s cute… at least for now.
V10, eh? Nice. Your alluding to bombing around TX recalls my first visit to the state. Get off the plane in Austin to visit Daughter, her man and their 2 weans in Luling. Get an “upgrade” at the auto rental place. A cutesy Toyota Sienna mini-van. OK, cool… we can all bumble around in that thing comfortably.
Exit the airport, find my way to the freeway and my jaw hits my lap… Look at Herself and ask “Did I SEE that correctly?”… yep. Speed Limit 85mph.
I very slowly inched this big ass box up to that… set the cruise, sat in the right lane and kept imagining how MANY times it would roll if it got sideways at that velocity.
And you’re right… they’re NUTS… blowing by me like I was parked.
