Not an hour or two after the house was on the market, the first people posted to size it up. So I had to feed the dogs early and bug out whilst they were here.
It was Halloween, so the neighborhood was poppin’. Kids everywhere, parties happening, folks setup tables with food along the sidewalks. One big block party it was. Shame I never really waddled around during the holiday.
I met a neighbor for the first time. Nice dude. Asked if we were relocating, having seen the “For Sale” sign go up. Said, nope the old lady left. He asked where the other black dog went, so I had to tell him he died. We chatted a bit and I went on my way, trying to kill time.
After the 15 minutes allotted time I checked the Ring camera. Yup, just leaving.
Hold up, why is dude carrying bags he didn’t come in with?
What did they help themselves to? I looked around and nothing seemed missing.
This is why one has cameras.
Behold:

Helping themselves to my persimmons. Pretty. Damn. Gauche.
Looking at a house that’s just shy of a half million and picking persimmons from the property, probably in bags from my pantry closet. Not only that, didn’t seem to be alarmed at the cameras that they surely saw on the walkthrough. If not pointing at them from the soffits, then on the screen in my office.
Honestly, I don’t care about the persimmons. They’re more a nuisance to me than anything. But still, you aren’t free to help yourselves to so much as a rock or stick without asking. I wouldn’t have looked except Ring showed a dude walking away from my door with two full bags. Didn’t make me feel all that secure about this process.
Going to be a long month or two.
Thatn’s so utterly WRONG. Were they not with a Realtor? It is up to the Realtor to ensure the security of any home they are showing. I would shove those images down someone’s throat… (and that’s putting it _diplomatically_ ).
Hang a sign on the entry door before your next showing. PREMESIS UNDER VIDEO SURVEILLANCE.
That’s a new thing too… When we sold this year… that you were to leave your home when it was being shown. I was VERY leery of this and did NOT like it one bit. After Hurricane Ian hit and things went missing that was the end of that. No more was I leaving the place unattended during a showing. (we had no cameras indoors).
Good luck with this process. I found it to be… consummately unsettling.

The guy in the foreground is the realtor.

He’s just standing there watching watching them steal your persimmons? Not very professional. In real estate you get a lot of supposed customers who are just busybodies wanting to snoop around and are not serious buyers. H should be on top of that.
