Behold the Garden:

Beets and peppers are progressing awesomely.
The cucumbers are out of control. I’m up to my ass in cucumbers. What happened was I thought the ones I planted were dying, so I planted more. None of them died. So I have four vines, two types. Luckily I like cucumbers.
The tomatoes I planted in containers seem happy enough. Looks like I may get some if it stays mile for another month. Even then, I’ll move them inside the sunroom.
That garden in the foreground has some extra pepper plants, a tomato, some herbs, and pollinator wildflowers. That mass of huge leaves in the foreground, I thought was squash. There’s one just like it in the compost pile. It’s not hugely productive. I think something is snipping off the blossoms. But I do have something growing. Looked weird for a squash, like one of those light green Mexican ones.
Turns out… It’s a punkin.
Now I’m sorry I transplanted it. I’ll trim it back.
Jethro Update
I’ve been taking Jet to the vet every morning for shots. He’s not getting better. This morning, he let me feed him a couple spoons of special diet food before turning away. Our vet has seen this before. His guts may be too scarred up to work. We’ve been after this for over a month, with some ups and downs.
Today, he met me in the waiting area. We had the “talk.”
If nothing changes, Monday it’s very likely I have to put him down. I can’t spend $100 a day to watch him die of starvation anyhow. His mind seems alert, but his body is failing. He stumbles. I have to lift him into the car.
At least I have a day or two to get my head right. I’m already at the point where it’s useless to see him suffer like this. My grief tank is nearly empty after the last few weeks.
We’ll see.
